throughline by Detroit artist Elizabeth Youngblood
March 1–April 26 An exhiting and fresh exploration of line.
The drawings follow a single line the way one follows the thread of an idea. And with the re-thinking of that idea and the re-drawing of that line, both the fragments of the idea and the group of lines morph, open, and come together to reveal something new. This theme grew out of a weaving practice which requires engagement in the extended process required to weave. The weavings have turned into a practice of examining the process of contemplation. This exhibition shows the inquiry from the initial two-dimensional drawings to the most recent two-dimensional drawings and three-dimensional objects.
EMERGING Grove Gallery also introduces “Emerging”, a new program for showcasing exciting artists on the horizon. Our first artist—Jena McShane, photographer, exhibiting gorgeous stormscapes through March.
